Materials

We can help you save money, time and get longer-lasting blades.

We use a wide variety of high-quality materials to manufacture steel knives and blades specifically designed for your industry. We manufacture our machine knives and blades with very strict tolerances by using high quality steel materials like high-speed steel and tungsten steel, as well as a series of advanced equipment, thus ensuring a high accuracy up to ± 0.001". We can also do TiN coating to make your knives and tools last even longer.

The material properties that need to be considered when choosing the right material for your industry:

  • Toughness
  • Wear and Corrosion Resistance
  • Shape Control During Heat Treatment
  • Edge Characteristics
  • Cost and Availability of the Material in the Market

MATERIALS

Cold Work Tool Steel:

AISI D2 Cold Work Tool Steel (DIN 1.2379) - High Carbon High Chromium Steel

Steel Properties: Dimensionally stable, high carbon, high-chromium (11%) steel, particularly suitable for air hardening. D2 steel provides superior hardness, high wear-resistance, good toughness, sufficient machinability, and excellent compressive and impact strength.

Application: High-duty cutting tools, blanking and punching tools, wood working tools, shear blades for cutting light-gauge material, thread rolling tools, tools for drawing, deep drawing and cold extrusion, pressing tools for the ceramics and pharmaceutical industries, cold rolls (working rolls) for multiple-roll stands, measuring instruments and gauges, small moulds for the plastics industry where excellent wear resistance is required.

High Speed Steel:

AISI M2 HSS High Speed Steel (DIN 1.3343)

Properties: Tungsten-molybdenum high speed steel with excellent toughness and cutting properties for a wide variety of uses. Wear resistance is better than AISI D2. This material is especially recommended for rapid working knives and blades with a high frequency cutting rate. M2 High Speed Steels provide high working hardness, high wear resistance, excellent toughness, high retention of hardness and red hardness.

Application: Taps, twist drills, reamers, broaching tools, metal saws, milling tools of all types, wood working tools, cold work tools.

High Carbon Steel:

AISI 1075 High Carbon Steel (DIN 1.1248)

Properties: This is one of the high-carbon steels used for high-hardness in the fully hardened condition. In such condition the steel is more brittle than the lower carbon steels.

Application: Application includes spring and cutting tools.

Spring Steel:

AISI 1095 Spring Steel (DIN 1.1274)

Properties: This is a high carbon alloy of the plain carbon steel family. It is intended for high hardness and strength, but also tends to be brittle.

Application: Typically used for springs or cutting tools requiring sharp cutting edges such as grass or grain cutting tools.

Hot Work Tool Steel:

AISI H10 Hot Work Tool Steel (DIN 1.2365)

Properties: Hot work tool steel featuring a fine combination of heat checking resistance, hot strength and im pact strength; admits water cooling.

Application: Mainly for the processing of heavy alloys, such as mandrels, dies and containers for metal tube and rod extrusion; hot extrusion tools; tools for the manufacture of hollows, screws, rivets, nuts and bolts. Die casting tools, forming dies, die inserts, hot shear blades.

Tungsten Carbide WC

Properties: Tungsten Carbide is extremely hard, heat and stretch resistant making it useful in intensive high-run conversion processes. Because of its high hardness being equal to 75-80 Rc, industrial knives made of Tungsten Carbide can last around 10 – 50 times longer than blades made from tool steel.

Application: Based on the wide range of grain sizes now available, not only very hard and abrasion resistant, but also very tough, hard metals can be produced for widespread applications in high tech tools, wear parts and mining tools as well as for many sectors of the engineering industry.
