Cutting Bevels and Applications

Every process is unique, and so is every bevel. That’s why our Circular Dished Knives are manufactured with various cutting bevels designed for specific applications:

  • NF (Normal bevel): General-purpose reliability
  • SF (Slim bevel): Precise cuts with less resistance
  • SHF (Slim hollow bevel): Designed for delicate materials
  • SPF (Special bevel): Engineered for demanding, custom tasks

The top slitter blade may be dish-shaped or flat-shaped, with single bevel, double bevel, or square edges. For score cutting, a single blade is paired with a roll or sleeve as the bottom blade. Some customers know these as male or front blades.

Applications by Bevel Type:

  • Single bevel (S = 0.6–3 mm): Hard materials such as cardboard, thick plastic, or aluminum foils
  • Double bevel (S = 0.5 mm): Paper, light cardboard, textiles, nonwoven materials, tissue
  • Double hollow bevel (S = 0.3–0.5 mm): Thin paper, thin plastic/aluminum foils, labels, multilayer paper

Bevel Angle Guidelines

The bevel angle determines performance across materials:

  • 0–10°: Metals, laminates, plastics
  • 30°: Paper, foils, laminates, fleece, cardboard, nonwoven materials, tissue
  • 45° / 60°: Special applications, film industry, multilayer paper
